Okay, we’ve been seeing teasers for Pandora – The World of Avatar for a long time now. But now, thanks to ABC Nightline, we have a behind the scenes sneak peek at some of the food that was created just for this new immerse land.
Before I dive deeper into these delectable dishes, let’s first take a look at what we know about Pandora – The World of Avatar.
First, we know an opening date! Pandora will officially welcome guests on May 27 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The all-new land will immerse guests in a world of floating mountains, bioluminescent forests, and the culture of the Na’vi.
I’m personally super excited to experience the new attraction Na’vi River Journey. On this boat-ride style attraction, guests can experience the world of Pandora at night as the land comes alive with bioluminescent plants and animals. You never know what you might find lurking around the next river bend. Perhaps you may even spot a Viper Wolf.
Pandora – The World of Avatar is the largest addition to ever take place at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. But that wasn’t the only obstacle. Thanks to the film, guests already have an idea of what visiting Pandora would be like. Disney Imagineers had to live up to those expectations.
“We are taking our guests on a journey to this world in an experience that’s as realistic and immersive as possible,” says Joe Rohde, Walt Disney Imagineering portfolio creative executive. “In the movie, the world of Pandora is a setting for the action and characters whose story we follow. Here, guests are the primary characters immersed in an extremely vivid, authentic experience.”
But can it really be considering an immersive world without some themed food offerings? Yeah, I didn’t think so either! Here is a first look at some of the delicious desserts that will be available throughout the new land.
First up, the Na’vi Blueberry Cheesecake. I am really intrigued by this deconstructed dessert. It looks so other-wordly, which is obviously the idea. And I bet it’s delicious! I’ve never met a Disney dessert that I didn’t like.
Also on the menu, a Pandora inspired smoothie. With a tie-dye mix of colors, and some jellied candies to top it off, this smoothie looks like a Na’vi traditional beverage. Or at least, this is what I imagine a Na’vi traditional beverage would look like. No word yet on whether a version with alcohol will be available. Fingers crossed!
I can’t wait to experience Pandora – The World of Avatar when it finally opens at Disney’s Animal Kingdom this summer. And now, I have to add trying these new foods to my itinerary!
Are you excited to experience Pandora? Which dessert option will you try first? Let me know what you think in the comments.
