Disney’s Animal Kingdom is expanding into nightlife attractions with the soon-to-be-open Rivers of Light. By moving into the hours after the sun goes down, this park will have a wider appeal for adult visitors who like to stay up a little later.
Here are my top 5 adult attractions at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Expedition Everest: Expedition Everest is arguable the flagship attraction at DAK. Hunt a Yeti (or is it hunting you?) on a caravan through the mountains. Make sure to grab a FastPass before heading to the park as lines can be quite long for this coaster. Guests must be at least 44 inches in order to ride.
DINOSAUR: Yes, the cap locks was on purpose here – it’s just how it’s spelled. DINOSAUR is a prehistoric journey through time as you race to escape extinction. No big deal. No matter how many times I ride this, I scream my lungs out each and every time. This ride may be frightening for younger children (or wimpy adults). Guest must be at least 40 inches in order to ride.
Tree of Life: The Tree of Life is definitely something that visitors of all ages should experience, but as an adult, it definitely holds a greater meaning for me. As an adult, I can truly appreciate the craftsmanship, skill, and time that went into creating this massive piece of art. And then, I think as you grow up, you are able to really grasp the idea of the Tree of Life. All of the animals intertwine to create one harmonious piece of art, just as they intertwine to create the unique life of our planet.
Wild Africa Trek: Okay, I cheated a bit. This isn’t exactly an attraction, but it could be the main event of your trip! The Wild Africa Trek is a three hour behind the scenes tour of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Explore nature, grab a bit to eat, and show your adventurous side on this separately ticketed event. If you are interested, make sure to book in advance as availability is limited.
Kilimanjaro Safaris: The safari is great for children of all ages, but this is one attraction where you can just sit back, relax, and get really excited when you spot a giraffe! Have your camera ready and pretend that you are a professional photographer (hey, maybe you are. I don’t know you) as you snap a million pictures.
Animal Kingdom is expanding to include more nighttime entertainment which is great news for adults visiting the park. But that doesn’t mean we have to wait for these attractions to open to enjoy the park now.
