I have always been a natural night owl, so when I am visiting Walt Disney World, I like to take advantage of all the amazing entertainment and experiences that only happen after the sun goes down. After the dinner crowds leave the parks and the tired children make their way back to their resorts is when Walt Disney World really comes to life for me.
Nothing brings me more happiness than walking down Main Street USA at night. The shops are lit up, the air is cooler, and it feels like magic is real. Whether you are looking for adventure, romance, or just a great ending for an amazing day – there is always something special for night owls at Walt Disney World.
Here are my top 5 activities for night owls at Walt Disney World
Nighttime Fireworks Shows: Wishes (Magic Kingdom), Fantasmic (Hollywood Studios), and Illuminations (Epcot) all offer breathtaking shows and unforgettable memories. Rivers of Light is set to premiere later this year at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and will ensure that no matter what park you choose to visit, there will be amazing entertainment once the sun goes down.
Main Street Electrical Parade: you could call this one a Disney classic. The Main Street Electrical Parade is filled with glowing, spinning, and gliding floats that feature many favorite characters and dancers. This parade can only be seen at night and is worth staying up late for.
Rollercoasters and Rides: some rides are just better at night! Whether you are looking for heart pounding thrills on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, or a relaxed tour of Tomorrowland on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover, the night hours of Walt Disney World’s attractions have something for everyone. Check out my favorite night attractions here.
Electric Water Pageant: this floating parade can be seen nightly in resort areas of the Seven Seas Lagoons and Bay Lake. Watch from the beaches of the Polynesian Resort or Grand Floridian Hotel for optimum viewing. This parade may not be the most exciting thing that you will see on your Disney vacation, but it is a classic and should definitely be experienced at least once.
Characters in Flight: If you are looking for a one of a kind view of Walt Disney World, check on the Characters in Flight hot air balloon located at Disney Springs. Imagine soaring in the night sky with views of Walt Disney World twinkling and glowing below you. This is something that I have always wanted to experience!
Whether you love to stay up late, or just want to experience Walt Disney World in a different light (pun most definitely intended), considering checking out all that Disney has to offer once the sun goes down!
