Big news coming from Walt Disney World today. A new nighttime projection show, “Once Upon a Time,” will debut at Magic Kingdom Park on November 4. This new show will replace the current “Celebrate the Magic” projection show, which will end its run on November 3.
I have mixed emotions about this announcement coming out of Walt Disney World today. First, I LOVE “Celebrate the Magic.” It’s one of my favorite experiences on property. However, I understand the need to keep things fresh and introduce new shows and entertainment options. I guess I will reserve judgement until I see it for myself in a few weeks.
“Once Upon a Time” will star Mrs. Potts and Chip from Beauty and Beast. Mrs. Potts is telling Chip some bedtime stories that transport them (and guests) on a magical adventure through classic Disney scenes. You can expect to see Disney favorites including Cinderella, Peter Pan, Alice, and Winnie the Pooh.
Guests will have the chance to fly with Peter Pan from London to Never Land, join the Mad Hatter at a tea party in Wonderland, and duel Gaston at Beast’s castle.
According to Disney Parks blog, the show was inspired by one of a similar name at Tokyo Disneyland Park and uses projection mapping technology to cover every nook and cranny of Cinderella Castle in vibrant images that appear almost three-dimensional.
I do love when they use projection on the castle. It’s just so magical and stunning!
Are you looking forward to the new nighttime show? Or will you miss Celebrate the Magic like I will? Let me know what you think in the comments.
